Students Give Thanks

November 20, 2023 Madison Lewis

Students from all across America will celebrate Thanksgiving soon, and the same is true for Hardin-Simmons students. Several HSU students were asked to share a bit about what they are grateful for this Thanksgiving season and how they celebrate this special holiday.

Student Esther Flowers stands in front of the Skiles Building in a purple shirt.

Esther Flowers, a junior strategic communication major, shared that she is thankful for her brothers.

“They make me laugh, and my older brothers give me wisdom every time they come home. They inspire me to work harder at what I do,” she said.

Flowers mentioned that her favorite Thanksgiving dish to share with her family is stuffing.

Jenna Kelly, a senior psychology major, enjoys spending time out of state for the holidays.

“My family always goes to Kentucky to visit with extended family, and we have a big campfire,” she shared.

When asked about what she was thankful for, Kelly responded with the following:

“I’m thankful for my friends and the way they are there for me as a good support system.”

Javidan Aghayev is a freshman international student from Azerbaijan studying computer science.

“I am thankful for my grade being high enough to keep my scholarship because I am an international student,” he said. Aghayev mentioned that without his scholarship, college would not be possible for him.

We at HSU are thankful for all the students, faculty, and staff who make the vision of Hardin-Simmons possible.
